At The Dough, we take pride in the quality of our sourdough loaves, tools, and baking essentials. We follow the guidelines of the South African Consumer Protection Act (CPA) and aim to make your experience simple, fair, and transparent.
🥖 1. Returns on Perishable Goods (Bread & Food Items)
Perishable items such as sourdough loaves and any food products cannot be returned once delivered or collected, in line with the CPA.
However, we will gladly replace or refund your order if:
- The product arrives damaged,
- The product is expired,
- Or the product is incorrect.
If this happens, please notify us within 24 hours of receiving your order with a clear photo of the item and your order number.

🧰 2. Returns on Tools, Equipment & Non-Perishable Goods
All baking tools and equipment purchased from The Dough are returnable, provided they meet the following conditions:
✔️ Eligible for Return Within 14 Days
You may return tools and non-perishable goods if:
- They are unused,
- In their original packaging,
- In a resellable condition, and
- You return them within 14 days of delivery/collection.
You may choose a refund, store credit, or an exchange.
Please note: return shipping costs are the responsibility of the customer unless the item arrived damaged or incorrect.
🛠️ 3. 6-Month Warranty on Tools
All tools and baking equipment come with a 6-month warranty (as per the CPA) which covers:
- Manufacturing defects
- Functional faults
- Material defects
If a tool becomes faulty within 6 months of purchase:
- We will repair, replace, or refund the item
- The choice of remedy is at The Dough’s discretion, depending on the nature of the defect
This warranty does not cover damage caused by:
- Misuse or incorrect handling
- Accidental damage
- Normal wear and tear
🚚 4. Incorrect or Damaged Items
If you receive the wrong item or an item arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours with photos so we can resolve it quickly.
We will arrange:
- A replacement
- A return collection (if required)
- Or a full refund
💳 5. Refund Processing Time
Once approved, refunds are processed within 3–7 business days.
Refunds are issued via the original payment method.
